Elisabeth Leaux - 80th IRF President

It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the 80th International Rice Festival, the oldest and largest agricultural festival in Louisiana. This festival has a proud tradition of honoring our rice industry and the farmers who help keep this grain growing.

I hope you enjoy everything the festival has to offer. Come by and enjoy the food, parades, musical entertainment, contests - from queens to rice eating, carnival rides and all the special activities that make up this grand festival.

This festival continues to grow every year and it wouldn't be possible without our wonderful volunteers and sponsors who give of their time, talent and treasures to keep this festival alive. I am honored to be the 80th International Rice Festival President. This journey began over 30 years ago when my mother, Pauline Zaunbrecher, asked me to join her in hosting the Friday Dignitaries Luncheon, from those humble beginnings, I've become involved in a number of committees; including the Queen's Ball Committee, the Hospitality Room Committee, the Main Stage Committee and of course volunteering my time in the beer booth. I have made many memories along the way, and hope to add many more in the upcoming weeks. My husband Al (74th IRF President), my children and grandchildren look forward to seeing everyone at the festival. We hope you will join us in celebrating.
